The Rev. Marek P. Zabriskie
has served as Rector of St. Thomas' Church since 1995. Prior to being called to St. Thomas' Church, Marek served as the Associate Rector of St. James's Church in Richmond, Virginia and as the Assistant to the Rector at St. George's Church in Nashville, Tennessee. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Marek studied philosophy and graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia before attending seminary at the Yale Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut. Between college and seminary, Marek studied French in Paris, France and worked for three years as a journalist in Atlanta and Nashville. His hobbies include reading, foreign languages, fly fishing, tennis, travel, swimming and gardening. Marek is married to Mims, and the Zabriskies have three daughters Emily, Marguerite and Isabelle. The Rev. Whitney Altopp
("Mother Whitney" or simply "Whitney") began her ministry at St. Thomas' in January of 2007. She served most previously in Montclair, NJ which is in the Diocese of Newark. She considers herself a product of her United Methodist upbringing, her Methodist undergraduate experience at Greenville College in Greenville, IL and her seminary training in NYC at The General Theological Seminary. She enjoys the cacophony of life and aspires to set up systems that permit her to be a good steward of the moment at hand. Her hobbies include knitting and being active outdoors. The Rev. Stanley E. Johnson
has been at. St. Thomas' since January 1996, serving as a part-time priest. Prior to retirement in 1995, he as the University Chaplain at Penn for 34 years. He graduated from Princeton in 1950, then studied Philosophy in graduate school at Penn before entering the Philadelphia Divinity School. He was ordained a Priest by Bishop Oliver Hart in 1954 after which he became Curate at the church of St. Martin-in-the Fields in Chestnut Hill. In 1957 he went to Nashville, Tenn. as the Episcopal Chaplain at Vanderbilt University where he served until moving to Penn in 1961. For forty-two years he was the summer minister of the Sconset Union Chapel on Nantucket Island. His hobbies include stamp collecting, needlepoint, golf, tennis, reading, and his annual stint as Judge of the finish line at the Penn Relays. The Rev. William M. deHeyman
is a retired Lutheran Pastor and has served on the staff at St. Thomas' Church since June 2002. "Pastor Bill" serves in a specialized ministry with young children and their families. Pastor Bill grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. and is a graduate of Adelphia Academy, Brooklyn and Wagner College, Staten Island, N.Y. He graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and served congregations in New York and Pennsylvania. The Rev. Carolyn Huff
has served as Priest Associate of St. Thomas' Church since May of 2005, initially working with the First Steps to Worship, and now she serves as the lead clergy person at Second Steps to Worship. Prior to her work at St. Thomas' Carolyn served as an Associate Rector at St. David's Church in Wayne, PA, and curate at St. Stephen's Church in Longmont, CO. Her first fulltime experience with church work was as youth minister at St. John's Cathedral in Denver, CO. Originally from Iowa, Carolyn attended Northeast Missouri State University, and Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA. As part of her studies at VTS she spent a year working and studying at St. George's College in Jerusalem. Her hobbies include biking, cooking, travel and scrapbooking.
