St. Thomas’ is part of a larger family of faith.
The Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania traces its roots to Anglican congregations founded in the colony’s earliest decades, including Christ Church, Philadelphia (1695) and St. Thomas’, Whitemarsh (1698). It now includes more than 130 congregations.

Organized in 1784 under Bishop William White, the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania originally spanned the whole state before subsequent divisions left it covering Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware counties. Today, under Bishop Daniel G. P. Gutiérrez’s leadership, the diocese pursues ministries in urban, suburban, and rural mission, local and global outreach, spiritual renewal, and a firm commitment to racial justice, women’s ordination, and LGBTQIA+ inclusion. The Clare Project
St. Thomas' former Deacon, The Rev. Phillip Geliebter, TSSF, is the founder of the Clare Project, a ministry of the Diocese of PA that provides creature comforts, pastoral care, first aid, and referrals for our unhoused siblings.
