Exchange your vows on holy ground.
Falling in love is the easy part. Marriage is choosing, for better or worse, to love through a lifetime—and in the Episcopal Church, that choice is a sacrament, held up by God and everyone standing beside you. St. Thomas’ provides a beautiful and holy space for this special day. Exchange your vows in our historic and beautiful stone church (built in 1881!) or in our smaller, light-filled chapel—the choice is yours, based on the size of your day and the feeling you’re after. Either way, you’ll have 42 acres of arboretum, gardens, and open lawn for photos afterward, and a building that has quietly held this special moment for thousands of couples before you.

Marriage is the sacramental rite of the church in which two persons “enter into a life-long union, making their vows before God and the Church, and receive the grace and blessing of God to help them fulfill their vows.” (Book of Common Prayer, p. 861)
In the Episcopal Church, at least one of the parties must be a baptized Christian, and Premarital Preparation is required.

“The historic beauty of the space framed our service just the way we wanted. We felt cared for, both logistically and spiritually, and the facilities and staff were wonderful to work with for our special day!”
—Hunter and Eddie F., newlyweds who were married at St. Thomas’

Yes. We’ve celebrated a number of weddings for same-sex couples at St. Thomas’, and we’d be honored to celebrate yours, too.
-
No. At least one of you needs to be a baptized Christian, but membership isn’t required. Many couples begin their relationship with St. Thomas’ through the wedding itself. Wedding fees are reduced for members.
-
Take the Newcomers’ Orientation, which is led by both St. Thomas’ clergy and lay members and held frequently throughout the year. Each class begins with a tour of the church, followed by lunch and discussion, including information on the Episcopal Church, St. Thomas’, and how to become a member and get involved.
-
Three sessions with a priest, either here or with Episcopal clergy you already know. It’s a way to explore the past, present, and future and how to live into the vows you make on your wedding day. Our clergy has deep experience in counseling couples, and we utilize modern practices for helping couples continue to grow together.

Both are beautiful, and both are yours to choose from. The church seats more and carries the weight of the building’s full history; the chapel is smaller and more intimate. We’ll talk through your guest count and the feeling you’re going for when you meet with clergy.
-
As soon as you have a date in mind, reach out. Premarital Preparation and calendar availability both take some lead time, so earlier is easier, but talk to us regardless of where you are in planning.
-
Divorce will not disqualify you from getting married at St. Thomas’. Please let the clergy know that you have been married previously.

We sure do! In fact, we have multiple spaces for receptions—please contact Sharon Werner, our Wedding Coordinator, to learn more.
